<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device, a recording method and a computer program, capable of acquiring operation history information for a user which is effective for failure countermeasures while reducing the communication load by effectively compressing moving image data relatively low in change frequency. <P>SOLUTION: Start instruction and stop instruction of recording for a display screen displaying operating conditions of an extension unit in a ladder form are accepted, and the transition of the display screen up to accept of the stop instruction is stored as one moving image data including head image data, a plurality of differential image data, and time stamp information showing the elapsed time from the acquisition of the head image data and/or the differential image data. The head image data is stored; a change of the display screen is detected, and differential image data corresponding to a difference changed from the head image data and/or the differential image data is stored.
