PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner that is excellent in low temperature fixability and can prevent high-temperature offset and reduce humidity dependency of charging, and to provide a method for producing the toner. SOLUTION: The toner comprises at least a resin and a coloring agent, wherein the resin comprises toner particles in which a polyester resin unit is crosslinked by a diatomic crosslinking group expressed by general formula (1). In the formula, X<SB>1</SB>denotes a linking group; and Y<SB>1</SB>denotes a radical polymer unit, having a number-average molecular weight Mn ranging from 5,000 or more to 50,000 or less, and a ratio Mw/Mn ranging from 1.0 or more to 1.2 or less, wherein Mw denotes a weight average molecular weight and Mn denotes the number-average molecular weight.
