PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photodetector which uses a sample holder suitable when a sample is irradiated with excitation light at different angles using an identical integrating sphere. SOLUTION: The sample holder 40, which is attachably/detachably mounted to the integrating sphere 20 which observes light to be measured reflected by the sample S irradiated with excitation light, includes a sample stand 41 which extends inside the integrating sphere 20 from a sample introducing hole 202 which introduces the sample S in the integrating sphere 20, and a mounting flange 44 for latching the sample holder 40 together onto the integrating sphere 20. A placement surface 411, on which the sample S is placed, is formed on the sample stand 41 so as to incline from a surface perpendicular to the optical axis L of the excitation light. The mounting flange 44 latches the sample holder 40 together onto the integrating sphere 20 so that the placement surface 411 is oriented in a predetermined direction inside the integrating sphere 20.
