PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reveal the composition of glass suitable for a thin lens, and to provide a lens (optical component) produced using the glass. SOLUTION: A concave lens 1 as an optical component is made of glass containing 12-16% of B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 35-44% La<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, and 3-8% ZnO, expressed as wt.%. The concave lens 1 has a thickness t<SB>1</SB>in its center portion of≤0.5 mm, and a ratio (W/t<SB>1</SB>) of an outside diameter W with respect to the thickness t<SB>1</SB>of≥24.
