<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation device, which never causes a change in operation feeling even if a user moves by providing an operation area regulating a relative positional relation with the user in a virtual space. <P>SOLUTION: The device includes a distance image sensor 2 which outputs a distance image within a monitoring space in the front of a display device which displays an image. The output of the distance image sensor 2 is input to a space generation means 3, and the space generation means 3 generates a three-dimensional object virtual space corresponding to the monitoring space in 1:1. A person extraction means 4 extracts a human existence region in the object virtual space. An operation area setting means 5 regulates an operation area extracted by the person extraction means 4 using the human existence region, a motion determination means 6 extracts a position of a human hand, and recognizes an operation corresponding to a predetermined condition when the position of the hand satisfies the condition.
