PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microscope and transmission dark field lighting system where an observer easily handles a sample even in the state where an optional transmission dark field lighting system is mounted to the microscope. SOLUTION: This microscope 1 includes an objective lens 9 for observing the sample, the transmission bright field lighting system 17, and a base part 3 having a mounting mechanism for mounting the transmission dark field lighting system 25 on the lower side or the upper side of the transmission bright field lighting system 17.
