PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotating ring detecting structure for a lens barrel capable of accurately detecting a position of a rotating ring, using a space-saving configuration. SOLUTION: The lens barrel has the rotating ring supported to be capable of advancing/retreating in an optical axis direction, while rotating on the inside of a fixed ring. The lens barrel has the rotating ring detecting structure obtained by providing a position detection sensor, configured so that light-projecting and receiving parts interposing a slit are protruded from an inner surface of the fixed ring, providing a plurality of guide protrusions slidably engaged with a guide groove formed on the inner surface of the fixed ring; and an annular large-diameter part connecting the plurality of guide protrusions and existing at a radial-direction position common to the light-projecting and receiving parts of the position detection sensor on an outer surface of the rotating ring, forming a sensor advancing allowing part permitting advancing of the light projecting and receiving parts of the position detection sensor, at a specified relative position of the rotating ring and the fixed ring on the annular large-diameter part, and forming a shielding wall part, capable of advancing into the slit of the position detection sensor in the sensor advance-allowing part.
