PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cut a workpiece in a direction which crosses the direction of forging in a forging press. SOLUTION: A cutting device 11 for cutting the workpiece W in the horizontal direction which crosses the vertical direction of forging by pushing in a side bar 14 which is incorporated in the lower die 13 by the pushing part 12a of the upper die 12 by taking the working motion of the ram 1 in the vertical direction as an energy source and operating a cutting slider 15 engaged by a wedge mechanism in the horizontal direction is provided between a ram 1 and a bed 2 on which upper and lower dies 4a, 4b of a transfer press are arranged and the workpiece W is cut in the direction crossed with the direction of forging in the forging press by transferring the workpiece W to the cutting device 11 with a pair of beams 5 of the transfer device.
