Disclosed is a method for producing a copolymer of a conjugated diene compound and a non-conjugated olefin other than the conjugated diene compound having a high cis-1,4-bond content in the conjugated diene compound moiety. More specifically disclosed is a method for producing a copolymer, comprising a step of polymerizing a conjugated diene compound and a non-conjugated olefin other than the conjugated diene compound in the presence of a polymerization catalyst composition containing at least one complex selected from metallocene complexes represented by general formula (I) and the like. In the general formula (I), M represents a lanthanoid element, scandium, or yttrium; CpR's each independently represent an unsubstituted or substituted indenyl; Ra to Rf each independently represent an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms or a hydrogen atom; L represents a neutral Lewis base; and w represents an integer of 0 to 3.
