<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods for operating a series hybrid vehicle in a manner corresponding to an output request of an operator, suitable to maximize engine efficiency and to minimize failure, in drivability of the vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: When a driver of the series hybrid vehicle performs the output request, a second power source 12 is supplied with one or both second energy stored in an energy storage devices 14 and direct input energy generated by an engines 16, and it depends on an available second energy amount stored in only the second storage devices of the vehicle and a combination with a vehicle speed. While the engine is used so as to generate the second energy, a power efficiency level at which the engine is operated also depends on the vehicle speed, the available second energy amount stored in only the second storage device of the vehicle, and the combination with the vehicle speed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
