The auxiliary power unit has an internal combustion engine and a generator (10), which is designed as a permanently energized electrical motor in a shrunk-on-disk rotor structure with a generator housing (12), a rotor (20) and a stator (16). The rotor is provided with a rotor disk (18), which is formed from fiber reinforced plastic, where the power unit is driven by a crank shaft. A cooling channel is molded in the generator housing for cooling the stator, where the generator housing is formed as a cross-cut pot case.
