The device has a selection device for selection of a spectral line, and a detection device for detecting static parameter of instantaneous noise distribution in the spectral line. A comparator compares power values of the spectral line with statistic parameters of the noise distribution. A determination device determines significance of the spectral line based on comparison of associated power values with a statistic parameter of instantaneous noise distribution. The spectral line is utilized for updating noise parameter values, when the significance is less than a threshold value. An independent claim is also included for a method for removal and reduction of broadband noise.
