<p>An automated storage/retrieval system comprises: first and second multi-tier racks arranged to face each other in parallel; first and second storage/retrieval stations arranged adjacent to one end side of each of the multi-tier racks and having waiting conveyors of the same number of stages as that of the shelves of the multi-tier racks; transfer shuttles interposed between the first and second multi-tier racks and between the first and second storage/retrieval stations; a lifting system arranged on the opposite side of the multi-tier racks, the system having first and second lift tables for transferring loads to and from the waiting conveyors in the first and second stations; and a conveyor system for transferring loads to and from the first and second lift tables, the automated storage/retrieval system being characterized in that at the same level, the conveying direction of the waiting conveyors of the first storage/retrieval station and the conveying direction of the waiting conveyors of the second storage/retrieval station are opposite to each other, and that at the same level, the conveying direction of some of the waiting conveyors in the first storage/retrieval station is opposite to the conveying direction of the remaining waiting conveyors in the first storage/retrieval station.</p> |
