The device has a drive device, a controller for automatic operation and at least one pair of outer and inner panels. The inner panel turns on a fixed joint. The outer panel turns on a joint on the inner panel, which is guided by a linear guide at its closure edge and has at least one emergency release fitting enabling the panels to be partly opened. The emergency release device acts to separate the linear guide device and the inner door panel.
