PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent start-up time from being delayed due to rebuild (or patrol) at the start of a system. SOLUTION: An information processing apparatus having a plurality of hard disks rebuilds data stored in one hard disk of the plurality of hard disks, to another hard disk of the plurality of hard disks. The information processing apparatus is controlled to determine, when the information processing is started, whether or not the rebuild is being suspended or not, and when it is determined that the rebuild is being suspended, to resume the rebuild after the lapse of a predetermined time, without resuming the rebuild immediately after the information processing apparatus is started.
