摘要 <p>The method involves controlling a heater of an exhaust gas probe i.e. lambda sensor (200), on basis of an operating point-dependent energy balance of energy that is supplied to and discharged from the exhaust gas probe. The supplied heat output at a sensor element (215) of the lambda sensor, heat dissipation by convection and/or thermal conduction in the sensor element and/or heat transfer by radiation between a protective tube (210) surrounding the sensor element and the sensor element are taken into consideration for the energy balance. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program comprising a set of instructions to perform a method for operating a heater of an exhaust gas probe (2) a computer program product comprising the set of instructions to perform a method for operating the heater of the exhaust gas probe.</p>
