The system has three tank ventilation pipes (30-34) and a tank (10) i.e. plastic tank, that accommodates fuel (12) e.g. petrol and diesel, for an internal-combustion engine (28). A tank shut-off valve (38) is arranged in the second ventilation pipe at a reservoir (36), and another tank shut-off valve (42) is arranged in the third ventilation pipe at another reservoir (40). A control device (64) controls shut-off and ventilation valves and a regeneration valve (50) such that pressure in the tank and loading levels of the reservoirs lie below predetermined threshold value. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a tank system.
