IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD FOR THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out a jam processing as easily as possible, by simplifying a configuration of an image forming apparatus and by preventing wrapping of paper to a fixing roller as much as possible when paper jam occurs.

SOLUTION: A control method for the image forming apparatus of an electrophotographic system has a pressing contact/separation mechanism SK of a secondary transfer roller 24 and a fixing roller 25 driven by one motor M1, stops the motor M1 after the secondary transfer roller 24 is separated by driving the pressing contact/separation mechanism SK when the paper jam is detected in a portion other than the fixing roller, and stops the motor M1 without driving the pressing contact/separation mechanism SK when the paper jam is detected in the fixing roller.
