PURPOSE:To improve operability, by such a control that when a printing operation can not be performed, storing and reading of printing data at a storage means are stopped, and when printing is restarted, a one-page amount of printing data are read starting from the first portion thereof. CONSTITUTION:When a trouble occurs, a printing operation is stopped, a receiving circuit 11 is set into a state for inhibiting reception, thereby stopping the transmission of printing data from a host computer, and reading of data from a RAM 10 is stopped. On recovery from the trouble, a data output pointer (OP) in the RAM 10 is returned to the top of the page related to an error, and printing is restarted. A pointer PTx indicates the address at which the first portion data for the x-th page is stored, the pointer OP indicates the address at which data is being printed at present by a printer is stored, and a pointer IP indicates the address of data which is being inputted at present. the storage capacity N of the RAM 10 is so set as N>=Mx, relative to Mx, data capacity for x-th page. |
