PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time of the adjustment to maintain image quality in an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a running member including an image formation area, a plurality of image forming sections to form a density adjustment pattern respectively on a straight line perpendicular to a running direction of the running member at a time of density adjustment, a plurality of density detection sections to simultaneously detect the density adjustment patterns on the straight line respectively and simultaneously, and a density correction section to correct image densities of the plurality of image forming sections respectively based on detection results of the density adjustment patterns obtained by the plurality of density detection sections.
