摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the structure of a damping device using magnetic viscous fluid, to provide the same at low cost and to continuously demonstrate stable performance. SOLUTION: The interior of a cylinder 1 filled with the magnetic viscous fluid inside is divided into first and second compartments 9, 10 by a piston 3 axially movable and a piston rod 2 fixed to the piston 3 is inserted in the cylinder 1 to freely enter and exit from the same. An orifice 11 is provided in the piston 3 for letting the magnetic viscous fluid flow between the first compartment 9 and the second compartment 10. Permanent magnets 12 are provided to lie above and below the orifice 11 and to form magnetic field for increasing the viscosity of the magnetic viscous fluid. The cylinder 1 is connected to one of a support body and a supported body, and the piston rod 2 is connected to the other so that relative movement of the piston 3 in the cylinder 1 is hampered by flow resistance of the magnetic viscous fluid flowing through the orifice 11 to damp vibration.
