摘要 <p>The coating formed is a composite, with solid lubricant particles embedded in a metal- or metal-alloy matrix. It is applied by kinetic cold gas spraying. The microstructure of the protective coating (2) comprises deformed particles of solid lubricant (4) and metal or metal alloy (3). Any constituent metallic or lubricant particles, or their combinations, are deformed. They are distributed in the layer as required. Coating porosity is preferably up to 1 vol%. The solid lubricant comprises at least one substance of low shear strength. It is one or more of: an oxide, V 2O 5, MoO 3, MoS 2, BN, hexagonal BN and WS 2. The matrix (3) comprises one or more of Fe, Ni, Co, Ti, Cu, Cr, Al, In and their alloys. The matrix is CuNiIn or one of its alloys, with a solid lubricant of MoS 2. Solid lubricant is distributed uniformly over the entire thickness of the layer. The component is part of a gas turbine or aviation turbine. In manufacture, the particles are projected against the surface to be protected by kinetic cold gas spraying. Particles of first and second materials are used. These comprise solid lubricant and metallic particles, or particles containing any required distribution of these. Either or both of the particles may be coated by each other in any combination. An independent claim IS INCLUDED FOR the method of forming the anti-fretting layer.</p>
