PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimally set the position of a caption in a depth direction with respect to stereoscopic video.

SOLUTION: This receiving device includes: a video decoder 108 for acquiring data of a stereoscopic video included in a broadcast signal; a caption decoder 110 for acquiring data of a caption object included in the broadcast signal; a program information processing section 106 for acquiring position information about the position of the stereoscopic video in a depth direction; a caption 3D converting section 120 for setting the position of the caption object in a depth direction with respect to the stereoscopic video. Consequently, it is possible to optimally set the position of the caption in a depth direction with respect to the stereoscopic video.
