PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system that easily edits a portal site or the like in accordance with the preference of a user. SOLUTION: The content selection and display system includes a display device having a content selecting function, and an IC card that communicates with the display device. The system has a content tabulating function for tabulating contents selected by the content selecting function, a tabulation result storing function for storing a content tabulation result by the content tabulating function in the IC card, a content tabulation result receiving function for causing the display device to receive the content tabulation result stored in the IC card by the content tabulation result storing function by communication, and a content selecting function editing and displaying function for editing and displaying the content selecting function based on the content tabulation result received from the IC card.
