PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of forming a bright multilayer coating film having a unique design that allows its hue to change continuously from near yellow green to near blue green within the same color range of green, according to a viewing angle, and shines in golden color in a highlight part and appears blue as well in a shade part. SOLUTION: The method of forming a bright multilayer coating film includes forming an undercoat layer on a substrate, forming a bright basecoat layer thereover, and subsequently forming a clearcoat layer thereover. The bright multilayer coating film has a green hue of from 10Y to 10B in a Munsell hue circle (20 hues), lightness (V) of 1 to 5, and chroma (C) of 1 to 6, in the Munsell color system. The paint composition that forms the bright basecoat layer includes a coloring pigment (b) and a silica flake pigment (a) of a mean diameter of 5 to 40 μm coated with titanium dioxide, in which composition, the concentration of the pigment (a) is 0.1 to 20 mass% and the concentration of the pigment (b) is 0.1 to 20 mass%, with the pigment (a) displaying yellow, green, and blue continuously.
