PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology capable of displaying a high-definition image having vivid feeling and stereoscopic effect in a hold type image display device. SOLUTION: The image processing circuit generates, from an input video signal, an output video signal including a main fame image corresponding to an original image included in the input video signal, and a sub-frame image generated by interpolating the original image, and outputs the output video signal at a frame frequency higher than that of the input video signal. The image processing circuit includes a luminance control unit for controlling, according to the frame frequency of the output video signal, display luminance of each frame image of the output video signal.
