<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user to identify all displayed images by displaying a character string for discriminating image files, even if they are recorded with an overlapping directory number or file number. <P>SOLUTION: When a directory having an overlapping directory number is present, display of a directory name in which the number is overlapped is changed by adding a character associated with the directory number (e.g., one alphabet character).
