<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal printing ink composition that has a high degree of whiteness and high designability and gives an elution amount with an aqueous alcoholic solution of a benzoxazole derivative sufficiently lower than the tolerance limit based on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (hereinafter referred to as "FDA"), and a covering method using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The metal printing ink composition includes a pigment, an alkyd resin, a hydrocarbon solvent and a benzoxazole derivative.
