PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To confirm that a chronograph timepiece operates normally at a time of an initial activation such as a system resetting time without requiring a complicated work. SOLUTION: When a processing section 106 detects that a system reset signal is inputted to a system reset terminal 103 and an initial activation is performed, in the case where a start/stop switch 101 and a reset switch 102 are not simultaneously operated, the section 106 gives a permission of demonstrative movement to hour, minute and second hands. After that, it enables movement of the hour, minute and second hands and a chronograph hand. In the case where the switches 101, 102 are simultaneously operated, the processing section 106 enables movement of the hour, minute and second hands, and the chronograph hand without giving the permission of the demonstrative movement.
