PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle side structure which makes an occupant riding on/off easy to ride on/off. SOLUTION: The vehicle side structure 1 includes a door 2, an inner handle 3, a striker 51, a latch 52, a load detection part 6, a determination part 7, and a movement inhibition part 8. The inner handle 3 is disposed on a side surface of the door 2 in the inside of the vehicle, and is changed from normal state to operating state upon receipt of an operation from the occupant. A close holding means holds the door 2 in closed position at the closed position when the inner handle 3 is in the normal state, and permits an open movement of the door 2 from the closed position when the inner handle 3 is changed from the normal state to the operating state. The load detection part 6 detects a downward load input to the inner handle 3. The determination part 7 determines whether the load detected by the load detection part 6 is a predetermined load or more. The movement inhibition part 8 inhibits the movement of the door 2 when the determination part 7 determines that the load detected by the load detection part 6 is the predetermined load or more.
