PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas-liquid separator which separates a mingling gas which is dissolved in a liquid or included therein as microbubbles from the liquid and to provide a gas-liquid separation method that separates the same from the liquid. SOLUTION: The gas-liquid separator has an inner part thereof divided into a jetting chamber 21 and a flowing chamber 22 by a main partition 31 which is suspended from a top plate 11 and of which at least a part near the lower end is notched, and jetting devices 34, ... are arranged in the jetting chamber 21. The gas-liquid separation method separates the mingling gas from a liquid to be treated by bringing a jetting flow generated by a primary treated liquid obtained by separating at least a part of the mingling gas from the liquid to be treated and a gas containing the mingling gas into contact with the liquid to be treated. The mingling gas in the liquid is separated from the liquid by bringing a jetting flow generated by the liquid sucked in the flowing chamber 22 downstream of the jetting chamber 21 and the gas in the gas phase of the jetting chamber 21 into contact with the liquid. The gas-liquid separation further proceeds while the liquid treated at the jetting chamber 21 is flowing within the flowing chamber 22 and the treated liquid is discharged from a water outlet 16 into the outside of the separator.
