PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide sintered type flux for submerged-arc welding for 9% Ni steel having excellent slag detachability and defective welding resistance and obtaining smoothness of the excellent bead shape even in the vertical attitude welding in addition to the downward attitude welding and the horizontal attitude welding. SOLUTION: In the sintered type flux for the submerged-arc welding for 9% Ni steel to be used in combination with a wire containing, by mass, ≥60% Ni, the flux composition contains, by mass, per the total mass of the flux, 15-40% Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 5-35% SiO<SB>2</SB>, 5-25% ZrO<SB>2</SB>, 5-25% MgO, 5-25% CaCO<SB>3</SB>, and 1-7% metal Al, and the balance metal Fe, Na<SB>2</SB>O with inevitable impurities while CaF<SB>2</SB>being suppressed to ≤5%.
