PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video camera capable of improving flicker discrimination precision. SOLUTION: An image sensor 16 outputs a field image generated on an imaging plane. A CPU 30 detects a luminance change in a time-base direction of the field image outputted from the image sensor 16 and discriminates whether flicker occurs or not by referring to a difference between a sine wave drawn along with a time base and the detected luminance change. However, the CPU 30 adjusts an angular frequency ω, among the angular frequency ω defining the sine wave, an amplitude AMP and an initial phase α, based on a driving mode of the image sensor 16 and adjusts the amplitude AMP and the initial phase α based on the detected luminance change.
