The valve (10) has a valve spool (14) including a coupling element in a coupling region (32) of a coupling pin (24), where the coupling element is formed from a hard material i.e. steel, which is different from that of the valve spool. The coupling element includes a ball arranged in an axial cavity of the valve spool, and the coupling pin acts on the valve spool. The coupling element includes a cylinder exhibiting a convex curve at a front surface pointing to the coupling pin. The coupling element is retained in the axial cavity of the valve spool. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a slide valve.
