PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide shot peening powder for simultaneously providing slidableness and surface compression residual stress, and a manufacturing method of a sliding member made by shot-peening using the powder. SOLUTION: The shot peening powder comprises a soft metal phase with a Vickers hardness of HV100 or less and one or more kinds of hard phases with a hardness exceeding HV100 and can simultaneously provide slidableness and surface compression residual stress. The soft metal phase includes one or more kinds of Sn, Zr and In and unavoidable impurities. The hard phase includes a compound or alloy comprising the soft metal and other elements.
