PURPOSE:To prevent the drying and solidification of ink, to facilitate the maintenance of a jet nozzle and to secure stable printing quality, by mounting a cap composed of a shape memory alloy to the leading end of the jet nozzle and controlling the shape thereof by a heater. CONSTITUTION:When a printer is not operated, the power source of a printer is turned OFF and the supply of a current to a heater 103 is stopped and a cap 102 composed of a shape memory alloy closes the outlet of a nozzle by the falling of temp. At the time of the operation of the printer, a current is supplied to a heater 203 and the shape of a cap 202 made of a shape memory alloy changes by the rising in temp. to open the outlet of a nozzle 201. |
