SOLVENT INKJET INK RECEPTIVE FILMS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image receptor medium comprising an extruded image receptive layer that is receptive to solvent-based inkjet ink in one aspect.

SOLUTION: The image receptive layer contains a blend of an ink absorptive resin and a carrier resin. The ink absorptive resin is compatible with the carrier resin and has a Hildebrand Solubility Parameter within about 3.1 (MPa)1/2of that of the solvent of the ink. In another aspect, the image receptor medium which comprises a co-extruded or extrusion coated image receptive layer and a core layer bonded together is provided. In other aspects, there are provided a method of printing an image and a method of making an extrusion coated or co-extruded image receptor medium.
