<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compression/decompression apparatus capable of reducing the number of cycles required for the decompression processing of entire block data. <P>SOLUTION: The compression/decompression apparatus for compressing or decompressing a plurality of pieces of sub-block data obtained by dividing block data for data communication with an external memory includes: a compressing part having a plurality of compressors; a data combination circuit for dividing a transfer data amount per cycle, and after allocating compressed data in a predetermined amount of two pieces of sub-block data or more of a plurality of pieces of sub-block data compressed by the compressing part, combining compressed data in respective segmented regions to generate transfer data; a decompressing part having a plurality of decompressors to decompress compressed data allocated to the respective segmented regions of the transfer data read from the external memory in parallel; and a data arrangement circuit for performing address conversion so that each data decompressed by the decompressing part is arranged at an original position in block data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
