PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the repair and replacement of an expansion device provided between a bridge girder and an abutment or between the bridge girders and to reduce a traffic interception range and time. SOLUTION: The expansion device 4 includes a pair of block rows 41, 42 arranged facing on both sides of an expansion gap 31. Each block row includes a plurality of unit blocks 43, 44 arranged in close contact in the width direction of the bridge girder. Each unit block includes a base part stuck to the bridge girder 1 or concrete of a parapet 21 of the abutment 2, and a projecting part projected from the base part. Tension members 45, 46 are embedded in each unit block, and the rear parts of these tension members are extended and anchored to the bridge girder or into the concrete of the parapet.
