PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect smear components at high precision without miscorrection. SOLUTION: A CCD solid-state image sensor 3 continuously photographs image data A with a strong smear, which is photographed through a polarizing filter 1 that transmits only polarization components orthogonal to a vertical CCD, image data B with a little smear, which is photographed through a polarizing filter 2 that transmits only polarization components parallel to the vertical CCD, and image data C which is photographed in the normal state without a polarizing filter. A smear correction circuit 4 performs subtraction processing that subtracts the image data B from the image data A to precisely detect smear components, and feedbacks the smear components to the image data C and subtracts them from the image data C to correct the smear components.
