PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten and reduce a time and effort when a TV program is recorded, in an automatic video recording system. SOLUTION: The automatic video recording system includes a hard disk recorder (HDR) and a TV receiver connected to the HDR through an HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) cable. The HDR can be operated by a remote controller with a TV power button etc. When the TV power button is operated (YES at S2), the HDR transmits a power supply control request command to the TV receiver (S3). The TV receiver receives the power supply control request command (S4), turns off power supply, and transmits TV program information on a program A under reception to the HDR (S5). When receiving the TV program information from the TV receiver (S6), the HDR automatically receives and records the program A under reception via the TV receiver based on contents of the TV program information (S7). Then, the HDR automatically ends to record the program A based on the broadcasting end time information of the program A included in the EPG information for guiding the program A (S9).
