PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel property detection device for accurately detecting a fuel component ratio of mixed fuel comprising a plurality of kinds of fuel. SOLUTION: The fuel property detection device includes a sampling means for extracting a sample of the mixed fuel comprising a plurality of kinds of fuel supplied to an internal combustion engine 10, a distilling means for distilling the extracted sample in a depressed state, a detection means for detecting a ratio of an amount of the sample remaining after the distillation, and a fuel component ratio calculation means for calculating a fuel component ratio of the mixed fuel based on results of the detection by the detection means. The detection means includes a liquid amount sensor 74 for detecting an amount of liquid in a distillation chamber 44 in which the sample is distilled. A fuel sampling pump 60 connected to the distillation chamber 44 is used for both extracting the sample from a fuel tank 12 into the distillation chamber 44 and depressing the inside of the distillation chamber 44. The fuel property detection device may further comprise a stirring means for stirring the mixed fuel stored in the fuel tank 12 before the sample is extracted. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
