The system (10) has a heat transfer medium-device (26) provided with a direct contact heat exchanger (32). A heat transfer medium heats working fluid in the heat exchanger, where the heat exchanger is arranged upstream to a heat engine (12), which is operated with the working fluid. Another direct contact heat exchanger (34) of the heat transfer medium-device is arranged downstream to the heat engine, and a heating device (28) i.e. solar heating device, heats the heat transfer medium by an external energy source. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a heat engine by a working fluid.
