A reciprocating linear motor powered by one directional fluid flow is provided, having small external diameter, optimized for length, with few moving parts and effective seals, low mass and thus low inertia in direction changes. The motor comprises a housing (5), a first compression chamber ( 15A), a second compression chamber ( 15B), a first piston (7A) located in the first compression chamber ( 15A), a second piston (7B) located in the second compression chamber ( 15B) and a connecting rod (28) connecting the two pistons together. The chambers ( 15A, 15B), pistons (7A, 7B) and connecting rod (28) are all aligned along a single line A reversing spool ( 16) disposed within a reversing sleeve (22) is provided between the pistons (7A, 7B) and aligns each chamber ( 15 A, 15B) with an appropriate power fluid intake or exhaust during respective piston strokes. The motor provides reciprocating linear powered motion for use by attached equipment such as a pump, chisel, hammer, valve, or other machine requiring such power.
