PURPOSE:To variable-control valve timing according to the number of rotations by a method wherein a hydraulic valve lash adjuster consists of two sections made up of a first material on a cam side and a second material on a valve side. CONSTITUTION:A hydraulic valve lash adjuster 5 consists of two sections made of a first adjuster part 5A on a cam side and a second adjuster part 5B on a valve side. The amount of oil leakage from a high-pressure chamber of the second part 5B is set smaller than the amount of oil leakage from an intermediate-pressure chamber 33 of the first part 5A, so as to realize accurate dynamic characteristics in the first part 5A and accurate static characteristics in the second part 5B. This enables valve timing to be variable controlled optionally and automatically according to the number of rotations. |
