PURPOSE:To easily detect the presence of the damage of a coating and its position by fixing plural reference electrodes at specified positions in a pipeline, and using the potential at the electrodes and position of the electrodes. CONSTITUTION:An anticirrosive electrode 7 is provided in the pipeline 1 at a distance of 1 from the bottom of a water chamber 2, the reference electrodes 8-13 are furnished, and the respective, potentials are measured. The values V1-V4 are obtained by dividing the potential difference between the adjacent electrodes 8-13 by the distances l1-l4 between the adjacent electrodes 8-13. When V1=V2, the defective part 14 of the coating 6 is not present in the vicinity of the electrodes 8-10. When V1not equal to V2, the defective part 14 of the coating 6 is present in the vicinity of the electrodes 8-10. When V1=V2 and V3not equal to V4, the defective part 14 is present in the vicinity of the electrodes 11-13. When V1=V2 and V3=V4, the defective part 14 is not present in the vicinity of the electrodes 8-13. By this method, the presence of the damage of the coating 6 can be easily detected, the position of the defective part 14 is confirmed, the operator is informed of the generation of damages, and the occurrence of accidents can be obviated. |
