PURPOSE: A digital video record device and an operating method thereof are provided to supply various user interfaces without an additional device. CONSTITUTION: A signal processing unit(110) extracts an MHEG(Multimedia and Hypermedia information coding Expert Group) object from a digital image signal. According to a UI(User Interface) generation command, UI generating unit(135) edits the extracted MHEG object. The user interface generation unit generates MHEG based UI data, and a control unit(120) multiplexes the generated UI data to a TS(Transport Stream). The control unit transfers the TS to an image display device.
