PURPOSE: A Liquid crystal display device is provided to minimize the capacitance between a thin film transistor array substrate and a color filter substrate by increasing the gap between those two substrates. CONSTITUTION: A driving circuit is included in a dummy area of a first substrate(111), and a second substrate(121) comprises a common electrode(125), a color filter and a black matrix(122). A column spacer(160) regularly maintains a cell gap between the first and second substrates. The color spacer is fixed to the first substrate within an active are and the dummy area. A liquid crystal layer is formed between the first and second substrates, and the second substrate includes a color filter pattern(223) which only corresponds to a column spacer forming portion.
