The system has an identifying unit identifying a subscriber, and a detecting and/or storing unit detecting and/or storing a voice sample of a subscriber. A generating unit generates a speech pattern of the subscriber, and a verifying unit verifying the voice sample co-operates with the generating unit by comparing the detected and/or stored voice sample with the pattern. The identifying unit, the detecting and/or storing unit, the generating unit and the verifying unit co-operate with each other such that a communication network provides a communication link when the link is verified. An independent claim is also included for a method for verifying a subscriber in a communication network.
