PURPOSE:To stabilize and improve the characteristics of a beta-alumina sintered body by preparing, pulverizing and drying powdery starting material for beta-alumina, disintegrating and spherizing the dried starting material before or after calcination so that a specified grain size is rendered. CONSTITUTION:When powdery starting material for beta-alumina is prepd., pulverized, dried, calcined and pulverized and a slurry contg. the resulting power is prepd., granulated, molded and fired to produce a beta-alumina sintered body, the dried powdery starting material is disintegrated and spherized before or after calcination so that <=1,000mum grain size is rendered. disintegrating and spherizing may be carried out before and after calcination. In this case, <=5,000mum grain size is rendered. |
